RECHARGE (3 c Cape Cross - Rebelline by Robellino)

RECHARGE, the third foal out of Tattersalls Gold Cup heroine Rebelline, put himself in line for an assault on the Classics on Sunday when swooping late to defeat Intense Focus in this Group 3 event.

The colt, who was bred by Skymarc and Castlemartin Studs, is one of three stakes winners conceived during Cape Cross' first season at €50,000. Another is the Group 2 winner Sea The Stars, a half-brother to Galileo who is currently as short as 6/1 for the Derby.

Cape Cross, who is the sire of 28 stakes winners headed by the Group 1-winning globetrotter Ouija Board, stands at Kildangan Stud in Ireland for €35,000.

Rebelline was crowned the champion older mare of 2002 in Ireland for Recharge's connections following wins in the Group 1 Tattersalls Gold Cup, in which she beat Bach and Nayef, and Group 3 Gladness Stakes. The daughter of Robellino also ran third in the 2001 Group 1 Prix de l'Opera.

Recharge is the second winner out of Rebelline - a sister to Group 2 winner and sire Quws - following the minor scorer Regalline (Green Desert).

She has a yearling colt by Galileo and visited Invincible Spirit last season.
