NEW sires Fast Company and Makfi have given their owners and patrons cause for relief by having their first mares scanned in foal.

The first mare in foal to Rathasker Stud resident Fast Company is the Inchinor mare Es Que, who has produced two-year-old winner Dominant, by Cacique, from her first runner.

Danehill Dancer stallion Fast Company split the outstanding pair New Approach and Raven's Pass when second in the 2007 Dewhurst.

His introductory fee at Rathasker is €5,000.

Meanwhile, at Tweenhills, last year's 2,000 Guineas and Prix Jacques le Marois hero Makfi has also had his first mare scanned in foal.

The mare was Raisonable, an El Prado half-sister to Prix de Malleret winner and Prix Marcel Boussac third Legerete, visiting from Haras des Monceaux.

Tweenhills manager David Redvers said: "Makfi has taken to covering like a duck to water and to get his first mare in foal is fantastic news, we are thrilled."

Makfi's 2011 fee is £25,000.
