Attraction half-brother off the mark at Southwell

RACKETEER, a two-year-old Cape Cross half-brother to multiple Group 1-winning filly Attraction, won on his second career start in a 1m maiden at Southwell today.

Bred and owned, like Attraction, by the Duke Of Roxburghe, Racketeer is trained by John Gosden. On his previous start, he had finished a promising second at Wolverhampton at the end of November.

His dam, the 14-year-old Pursuit Of Love mare Flirtation, was unplaced on her sole racecourse start. She has produced three runners to date – maiden winner Aunty Mary (Common Grounds), Attraction (Efisio) and Racketeer.

She also produced a 2002 colt by Inchinor, who was sold to John Gosden for 230,000gns as a yearling, a 2005 colt by Oasis Dream, who was sold to Mark Johnston for 105,000gns as a yearling, and a 2007 Montjeu filly who was a 200,000gns vendor buyback at Tattersalls last month.

Racketeer was also registered as a vendor buyback, at 190,000gns, when he was offered at the Tattersalls Craven breeze-up sale in April this year.
