Queen's Plate winner Mike Fox retired to stud

MIKE Fox, winner of the 2007 Queen's Plate in Canada, has been retired to stand at his birthplace, Firestone Farmsin Ontario, Canada. The eight-year-old son of Giant's Causeway will stand for C$4,000.

Mike Fox was a smart two-year-old, running third in the prestigious Cup And Saucer Stakes on turf at Woodbine. The following year, he captured Queen's Plate in a victory which saw Emma-Jayne Wilson become the first female jockey to win the prestigious race. He was also third in the Ontario Derby.

He retires with a record of five victories from 19 starts and earnings of $813,773for his owner D. Morgan Firestone.

Bred by Firestone Farms, Mike Fox is out of the Canadian Group 3 winner Alexis, an Irish-bred daughter of Alzao.

Mike Fox will stand alongside the former Aidan O'Brien-trained Tomahawk at Firestone Farms.
