Zoffany half-sister makes winning debut

QUEEN OF MEAN, a three-year-old half-sister by Pivotal to Sunday's Phoenix Stakes winner Zoffany, made a winning debut in the 6f European Breeders' Fund Maiden Fillies' Stakes at Yarmouth on Wednesday.

Her success would particularly please her owner-breeder Philippa Cooper at Normandie Stud, and provides compensation for the fact that her dam is no longer resident at the stud at Kirdford, near Billingshurst, West Sussex.

Trained by John Gosden, Queen Of Mean is the last foal out of her mare Tyranny to have been bred at Normandie Stud.

Normandie Stud sold Tyranny in foal to Zoffany for 230,000gns at the Tattersalls December sale in 2007.
