Punchestown scrap controversial airshow

PUNCHESTOWN has been forced to abandon its controversial airshow on June 6 and 7 after its main attraction, the Red Arrows, pulled out. The RAF's aerobatic team has delayed its 2010 scheduled due to a training incident.

"We are extremely disappointed about having to take this step," said AirShow100 promoter John McDonald. "The considerable costs of running an aviation event obliged us to reconsider the project without its headline act."

The airshow had attracted objections from local studs, concerned about the potential impact low flying aircraft would have on their bloodstock.
