Dutch Art: got his 24th winner of the 2011 Flat season today with Princess Of Orange's win at Lingfield

New winner for
1st-season sire Dutch Art

CHEVELEY PARK STUD's first-season sire Dutch Art sired his 24th winner of the season on Tuesday when Princess Of Orange won the 6f median auction stakes at Lingfield. It was the filly's third racecourse start.

The Rae Guest-trained runner was bred by Cheveley Park Stud, which sold the youngster as a foal at the Tattersalls December Foal Sale for 16,000gns. Dwayne Woods was the purchaser.

Unfortunately, when Princess Of Orange, who is out of the Sadler's Wells mare Radiate, was returned to the sales ring as a two-year-old at the Tattersalls Breeze-Up Sales under Emma O'Gorman's Seven Springs' banner, the filly failed to find a bidder and was led out of the ring unsold at 48,000gns.

The first-season sires' championship for 2011 looks as though it has it will go right to the wire. Dutch Art, Red Clubs and Dark Angel are all vying for top honours both on winners' terms and by prize-money earnings, with the name at the top of the list changing each week.

At present, according to the Weatherbys sires' table, Dutch Art has now just edged ahead of Red Clubs by one winner. The Cheveley Park Stud stallion is also leader by earnings - though he is less than £6,000 ahead of the second-placed Dark Angel, who has produced 20 winners.
