Princess Coup to be offered at broodmare sale

FOUR-TIME Group 1 winner Princess Coup is one of the 728 lots entered for New Zealand Bloodstock's National Weanling, Broodmare and Mixed Bloodstock sale, which takes place at Karaka in May.

A five-year-old daughter of Encosta De Lago out of the Sovereign Red mare Stoneyfell Road, Princess Coup was named New Zealand's champion three-year-old after capturing seven victories including the Group 1 New Zealand Oaks.

At four she was the champion middle-distance performer in New Zealand, after landing the country's richest race, the Group 1 Kelt Capital Stakes, and finishing placed in the Caulfield Cup in Australia and four other Group 1 races.

At five she won the Group 1 Stoney Bridge Stakes en route to a second consecutive victory in the Kelt Capital Stakes.

Princess Coup retired the winner of 12 of her 33 career starts and over NZ$4 million (£1,561,750 / €1,694,311) in prize money, making her the highest-earning Australasian runner by Encosta De Lago to date.

New Zealand Bloodstock managing director Petrea Vela said: "We are very honoured to have the opportunity to offer such an outstanding mare as Princess Coup.

"She was truly a championof her generation, backed up by a top-quality pedigree, and she offers buyers from all over the world a very unique buying opportunity."
