Positive trends continue at Ocala spring auction

THE Ocala Breeders'  Sales Company's  Spring Sale Of Two-Year-Olds continued to post encouraging returns on the second of its four sessions.

Day two saw an average price of $33,465 and a median of $20,000 from 214 horses sold for a total of $7,161,600. That led to an 8.6% rise in average on the same session last year.

The only negative figure was an increase in horses bought back: 23.3% compared to 16.7%.

After the first two sessions, turnover is up by 15.2% at $12,694,500 and the average price is up 15.5% at $31,422.

"The sale was solid today; it started strong and finished strong," OBS president Tom Ventura told Thoroughbred Times. "In the first 20 horses, we had three horses bring over $100,000 and, in the last 20 we had three bring over $100,000. Hopefully, we can keep it up the next two days."

The highest lot came when agent Patrice Miller secured a colt by Mizzen Mast named Take A Picture at $240,000. The Kentucky-based Juddmonte stallion also had the second top lot, Cruisen Mizzy, at $210,000.
