"Pleasing result" at Inglis as 2011 average holds up

THE two-day Inglis Melbourne Autumn Yearling Sale has closed with its main session posting an average of Aus$11,560 (£7,483/ €8,509) after 245 yearlings sold for a total of Aus$2,832,000 (£1,832,937/€2,084,397).  While that was down on the 2010 average of Aus$12,228, sales officials pointed out last year's figure was 23 per cent up on 2009.

"To all but hold those figures is a very pleasing result for all concerned," said Inglis director Peter Heaney.  "The final clearance ratefrom the two days will be comfortably beyond the 80% mark, so all in all, it's been a solid sale again this year."

The top lot on the second day was an Aus$60,000 colt by Glenlogan Park Stud horse Falvelon. Session two of the autumn sale concluded withan average of $4,152 (£2,686/€3,055) and turnover of Aus$289,950 (£187,452/€213,377).
