Denon on the move to Haras du Petit Tellier

FOUR-TIME Grade 1 winner Denon will stand at the Haras du Petit Tellier in France this year, having begun his stallion career at the Allevamento di Besnate in Italy.

Bred by the Niarchos family's Flaxman Holdings, Denon finished third in the Poule d'Essai des Poulains andPrix Jean Prat at three for Jonathan Pease.

Towards the end of his three-year-old season he was transferred to Bobby Frankel in America, for whom he won the Hollywood Derby, the Charles Whittingham Handicap, the Turf Classic Invitational and the Manhattan Handicap.

A son of Pleasantly Colony, Denon is from one of the best Niarchos families: out of Phoenix Stakes winner Aviance, he is a half-brother to Coronation Stakes winner Chimes Of Freedom, who produced Grade 1scorers Aldebaran and Good Journey, and Cheveley Park Stakes runner-up Imperfect Circle, who produced brilliant miler Spinning World and the dam of National Stakes winner Pathfork.

With his oldest crop aged six, Denon is a good sourceof winners in Italy and his best progeny include Capannelle Group 3 winner Il Fenomeno, who won a Navan Grade 3 novice hurdle for Noel Meade in November.
