Pivotal date for Vacare

GRADE 1 winner Vacare has been retired and will visit Pivotal this season. As a result, the six-year-old daughter of Lear Fan will not run in the Grade 3 San Gorgonio Handicap at Santa Anita on Sunday.

Vacare was purchased for $2.8m by Jon Kelly at the 2006 Fasig-Tipton November Sale after extending her unbeaten run to four in the Grade 1 Queen II Elizabeth Challenge Cup for her owner and breeder Lothenbach Stables.

Vacare went on to capture the Grade 2 Palomar Handicap, Grade 2 First Lady Stakes and Grade 3 Pucker Up Stakes for her new owners. She also ran placed in the Grade 1 Yellow Ribbon Stakes and Grade 1Gameley Handicap, and ended her career on a high when taking the Grade 2 Dahlia Handicap at Santa Anita last month.

She retires as the winner of eight of 14 starts and over $1.2m in prize-money.

Out of the winning Valid Appeal mare Appealing Storm, Vacare is from the family of US champion Serena's Song. Vacare was consigned to last year's Keeneland November Sale but was withdrawn.
