Aqlaam: the Shadwell stallion's first foals are born this year

Filly ex Mary Goonight

HERE are pictures of some of the first foals by Shadwell stallion Aqlaam. In a nine-race career, Aqlaam won the Group 1 Prix du Moulin as a four-year-old and he was placed at the top level on two other occasions. His four wins included the Group 2 Summer Mile Stakes and the Group 3 Jersey Stakes.

By Oasis Dream, he is the first foal of the unraced Rainbow Quest mare Bourbonella, whose second is the triple handicap winner Curacao. Their dam is a half-sister to top-class stayer Persian Punch, 1m4f Listed winner Classic Punch, French 1m4f Listed winner Grand Bahama and Group 3-winning juvenile Island Magic.

Aqlaam stands at Nunnery Stud at a fee of £7,000.

Mary Goodnight was a 1m2f winner on her debut at three and raced twice subsequently, placing once. The above is her first foal. Mary Goodnight is by King's Best out of a half-sister to St James's Palace Stakes second Valentino.

Hidden Meaning placed once from four starts at two andthree, but is a half-sister to 1,000 Guineas secnod Niche from the family of Ascot Gold Cup winner Little Wolf.

Colt ex Tarousa

She has already produced Listed winner and Group 2-placed Senor Mirasol and Becher, Listed-placed in France.

Tarousa'a colt foal is her first produce. She raced twice at Dundalk, and placed on her debut over 7f as a juvenile for her breeder the Aga Khan.
