Piccolo filly tops low-key day of yearlings at DBS

DONCASTER'S rebranded Autumn Yearling Sale was devoid of any headline-grabbing prices although local trainer Debbie Sanderson, who has just moved into owner Ron Hull's yard at Tickhill, was pleased to complete a successful buying mission.

Sanderson paid £22,000 for a Piccolo half-sister to Hull's stable stalwart Lenny Bee, who had made 5,500gns as a foal last year and was offered from Manister House Stud.

Hull's Moorhouse Stables were formerly home to David Brown and most recently had been used as a satellite yard by George Foster.

"I was previously training for Richard Budge and it's exciting to be taking over at Moorhouse," said Sanderson. "I've brought a few horses with me and we've got 15 in total.

"I came here to get this filly, she was a nice strong sort, and also ended up buying a Bachelor Duke colt (for £5,500)."
