Soldier Hollow gets his first Group 3 winner

THE In The Wings horse Soldier Hollow, a first-season sire who won four-time European Group 1s and who the stands at Gestüt Rottgen, got his Group 3 winner today with Pastorius's victory in the Herzog Von Ratibor-Rennen (G3) at Krefeld.

The chances were good that the sire would be able to tick that achievement off his stallion list "of things to do" today as he had three of the five runners in the race.

Pastorius had to work for his victory, battling to take the lead in the final furlong before running on well to go clear of the Teofilo filly Black Arrow, a Listed winner previously.

Soldier Hollow was bred by Car Colston Stud and is a half-brother to the Group 3 winner Day Walker and is out of Island Race (Common Grounds).  He retired to Rottgen and stands at a fee of €5,000. He has only had 12 and then nine yearlings go through the ring - averaging just over 10,000gns in 2010 and 13,273gns in 2o11.
