Overbrook lights up early hours of Keeneland

THE Overbrook Farm dispersal has played its part in a lively opening few hours of the second session of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale in Kentucky.

So far, proceedings have been topped by Summer Raven, a Grade 3-winning daughter of Summer Squall, who was knocked down for $1.7m to agent Reynolds Bell. Bell also paid $850,000 for Overbrook's first offering, Grade 2 winner Mary Delaney. She is a six-year-old mare by Hennessy, and dropped her first foal, a Mr Greeley colt, this year.

Denali Stud went to $900,000 to secure Sweet And Careless from the dispersal of Windfields Farm. Another by Hennessy, she is the dam of this season's runaway the Grade 1 Alabama Stakes winner Careless Jewel from just two foals to race.

The Hess Express, whose three stakes winners include Grade 1 hero Bullsbay, was knocked down to Stonestreet Thoroughbreds for $700,000.
