VOODOO PRINCE, the first offspring of the supremely talented Oujia Board, recorded a first career victory at Haydock on Friday night.

Having finished sixth on his belated debut, the three-year-oldson of Kingmambo was sent off the 9-4 favourite, and despite showing some signs of greenness, wore down Kawssaj - by Dubawi out of 1,000 Guineas heroine Ameerat - to win under Kieren Fallon.

Voodoo Prince's juvenile campaign was scuppered by niggling injuries but the colt has now taken his first steps towards attempting to fill the sizable shoes of his mother, an outstanding mare on the track.

A ten times winner from 22 starts including six Group 1s for owner Lord Derby and trainer Ed Dunlop, Oujia Board was a fantastic performer, netting over £3.5 million in total prize-money.

And Dunlop trains her first foal for the same owner. Lord Derby, who was in attendance, said: “That was encouraging, he was inexperienced and green and we didn’t know what was going to happen.

“To have the next generation
and first foal of Ouija Board win on his second start is great.”

Dunlop also has under his care Ouija Board's two-year-old colt by Monsun, Aegaeus. The mare also has a yearling filly and colt foal by Galileo, and visit Dubawi this season.
