Dam of Overdose in foal to Exceed And Excel

OUR POPPET, the dam of Hungarian sprint sensation Overdose, has been scanned in foal to Darley sire Exceed And Excel.

The 12-year-old daughter ofWarning is owned by Graham and Di Robinson and is boarded at Peter Player's Whatton Manor Stud in Nottinghamshire.

She gave birth to her eighth foal, a filly by Clodovil, on March 8. "The new arrival is a beautiful filly, you couldn't fault her," Graham Robinson said. "We had to spend a lot of money getting the vets to save Our Poppet's life when she injured herself a few years ago, but she's more than repaying us now."

She also has a yearling filly by Bertolini, a two-year-old filly by Dansili named Poppet's Treasure, whom the Robinsons have put in training with Rupert Pritchard-Gordon at Chantilly, and a three-year-old filly by Lomitas named Poppet's Lovein, who is also owned by the Robinsons and is in training with Andy Haynes in Somerset.

Poppet's Lovein suffered a near-fatal paddock accident shortly before she was due to make her first two-year-old start last year. Although vets gave her only a ten per cent chance of survival, she has made a full recovery and is due to make her racecourse debut in the next six to seven weeks.

The four-year-old Overdose has been dubbed the Budapest Bullet after remaining unbeaten in all his sprint starts inEurope last year. This month the son of Starborough won easily on his seasonal reappearance in front of a crowd of 20,000 at Kincsem Park in Hungary to take his winning streak to 12 races. He is set to run in the Temple Stakes at Haydock Park next month.

The Robinsons sold Overdose for just 2,000gns as a yearling. Despite the low price, Robinson says he has no regrets. "We are just so overjoyed for all of his connections, whom we are friends with, and he's doing a very good job of building the profile of our broodmare," he said, adding that he planned to retain all of Our Poppet's current and future progeny.
