Osborne appointed to major Irish breeders role

JOE OSBORNE has been appointed the new chairman of the Irish Thoroughbred Breeders' Association. Osborne, managing director of Darley's Kildangan Stud, was elected following the ITBA's AGM on Monday.

He will start his role immediately and will oversee a two-year term.

Osborne, who was previously vice chairman, said:  "I am honored to be taking on the chairmanship of the ITBA." He  praised outgoing  chairman Dean Harron for his "hard work and dedication".

Derek Iceton, manager of Tara Stud, will become ITBA vice chairman, with Ballylinch Stud's managing director John O'Connor continuing as president.

New council members are Michael Collins of Lisieux Stud,  Kilsheelan Stud's Eddie Fitzpatrick and Hugh Ryan of Carrabawn Stud.
