23 per cent clearance at Goffs December Flat

The top price of the day came when Louise Walshe paid €18,000 for an Oratorio colt foal consigned by Confey Stud on behalf of Vincent Finn. He is a half-brother to three winners out of an own-sister to the Santa Anita Handicap hero Urgent Request.

Earlier Bobby O'Ryan spent €11,000 on the Shadwell Estates-owned three-year-old Takween who won a Navan maiden on the second of his two starts for Kevin Prendergast in April.

"He's been bought for Howard Johnson. He looked quite a useful horse when he won his maiden in good style and he wasn't bad value at the price," commented O'Ryan.

The €11,000 mark was also reached by Ken Condon when he snapped up the lightly raced juvenile Quiet Ocean who showed up reasonable well in two decent maidens during the summer.

"I've bought him for a client in the yard to replace another horse that he had with me," reported Condon. "He didn't run at all badly on either of his starts and the form of his Leopardstown sixth to Mourayan has worked out well."
