MASTER OVERSEER (9 g Old Vic - Crogeen Lass by Strong Gale)

Bred by Mrs Jane Smith in Ireland

OLD Vic pulled off the notable feat of siring two Grand National winners within three years in Comply Or Die and Don't Push It, and can now boast a Midland Grand National winner on his record in Master Overseer, who outstayed Major Malarkey to take the 2012 renewal at Uttoxeter on Saturday.

His victory caps a remarkable week for descendants of Sadler's Wells, which between them won 11 races at the Cheltenham Festival led by the Cheltenham Gold Cup (Synchronised, by Sadler's Wells), Champion Hurdle (Rock On Ruby, by Oscar) and Ryanair Chase (Riverside Theatre, by King's Theatre.

Former champion jumps sire Old Vic, the 1989 French and Irish Derby winner who died last year at Sunnyhill Stud, also got on the Festival scoresheet thanks to Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup winner Sunnyhillboy.

Master Overseer is the only runner from five known foals out of winning chaser Crogeen Lass. He has passed through a sale ring on no fewer than four occasions, most recently when knocked down to G. Elliot for £6,000 at the 2008 DBS May Sale.
