Market continues to crash at OBS August

A DAUGHTER of current leading US first-crop sire Wildcat Heir was the only yearling to reach the $100,000 markduring a disappointing first open session of the OBS August Yearling Sale in Ocala, Florida on Tuesday.

Total receipts for 193 yearlings sold during the day reached $1,465,800, a slump of 34 per cent from last year. The average and median also suffered, dropping 32 per cent and 27 per cnt to $7,595 and $4,000 respectively. However, the clearance rate rose from 61 per cent to 67 per cent.

Repole Stable purchased the session topper, who is a half-sister to stakes winner Diablo's Closer and the Grade 1-placed Driven By Success. Woodside Ranch offered the New York-bred filly on behalf of New Dawn Stud.

Later in the session, Riley James went to $50,000 to secure a daughter of With Distinction.
