Oasis Dream: the sire of Quiff's filly foal and the likes of Power and ProhibitPICTURE: Edward Whitaker
Quiff filly is first foal for Banstead Manor Stud
THE first foal born in 2012 at Khalid Abdullah's Banstead Manor Stud in Newmarket is a bay filly by Oasis Dream and out of Yorkshire Oaks heroine Quiff.
Stud manager Simon Mockridge described the foal, born on January 15, as "attractive, deep-girthed with size and scope - a good, strong foal."
Quiff, a Juddmonte homebred daughter of Sadler's Wells and 1,000 Guineas winner Wince, was saddled by Sir Michael Stoute to win the Yorkshire Oaks by 11 lengths and finish a head second to Rule Of Law in the St Leger.
She is the dam of five previous foals: five-year-old filly Coiffure (King's Best), four-year-old filly Hairstyle (Dansili), three-year-old colt Quick To Learn (Oasis Dream), and an unnamed two-year-old colt by Dalakhani and a yearling filly by Oasis Dream.
Oasis Dream, who stands at Banstead Manor Stud at a fee of £85,000, continued his march to sire stardom last year with Midday, Power and Prohibit winning Group 1s.
