Showcasing has first mares tested in foal

WHITSBURY Manor Stud in Hampshire has confirmed that its new stallion recruit Showcasing has had his first mares covered tested in foal.

The first mare is Harryana, a winning daughter of Efisio and dam of last year's Mill Reef Stakes winner Temple Meads as well as Group 3-placed Sneak Preview.

The second is Native Nickel, the dam of Five Cents, a winner last week in Dubai.
Other mares that have already been covered by Showcasing and are due to be tested shortly include Dowager, Triple Edition and Ahwahnee, half-sisters to Group 1 winners Grand Lodge, Etoile Montante and Gilt Edge Girl respectively.
Whistbury Stud manager Charlie Oakshott said: "Showcasing has taken to his new job very well and to get his first two mares in foal is great news, we are absolutely delighted."

Showcasing was a clear-cut winner of the Gimcrack Stakes and finished a close third in the Middle Park Stakes at two, and was second to Prime Defender in the Duke of York Stakes at three.

A son of Oasis Dream, he is a brother to Listed-placed Bouvardia and a closely related half-brother to LIsted winner and promising youngsire Camacho.

Showcasing's fee at Whitsbury this season is £5,000.
