Oasis Dream colt new top lot at 700,000gns

A STRIKING son of Oasis Dream out of Maganda (545), a winning Sadler's Wells half-sister to Group 1 scorer Kutub became the highest-priced lot so far in Book 1 of this year's Tattersalls October yearling sale- and exceeded the price of the sale-topper at last year's sale - after being hammered down to John Magnier for 700,000gns.

John Magnier: winning bidder

The colt, who was consigned by John Deer's Oakgrove Stud in Wales, was, by common consent, one of the outstanding physical specimens of the sale, and the final phases of the bidding boiled down to Magnier and Sir RobertOgden.

Juddmonte sire Oasis Dream, whose oldest crop are only four, has seldom been out of the headlines in the current Flat season, with one member from each of his first three crops scoring at Group 1 level - juvenile Arcano in the Prix Morny, three-year-old Midday in the Nassau Stakes and four-year-old Aqlaam in the Prix du Moulin - and the likes of Showcasing, Misheer and Monitor Closely also making hay.
