Noverre off the
stakes mark in India
FORMER Darley resident Noverre sealed a notable start to his stud career in India when Hachiko, a member of his first Indian crop, captured the Group 3 Poonawalla Millions at Mumbai on Sunday.
Owned by Mr. & Mrs. Vijay B. Shirke, Miss Avanti V. Shirke and Miss Gayatri V. Shirke, Hachiko is the 20th stakes winner by Noverre, who stood at Kildangan Stud until his sale to Sohna Stud Farm in 2008. The Rahy half-brother to Arazi was a top miler for Godolphin, capturing the Sussex Stakes, and has since produced another top miler in Music Show, winner of the Falmouth Stakes. Another daughter, Elopa, won the German Oaks while son Le Havre took the Prix du Jockey Club.
Hachiko is out of the British-bred Indira, a daughter of Indian Ridge who was successful in a claimer on the Flat and in selling company over hurdles.
In addition to Hachiko, Indira is also the dam of Diamond King, who was Listed-placed over 1m6f in India. The daughter of Indian Ridge is a half-sister to the Listed-placed Italian sprinter Welsh Poppy.
