Goresbridge graduate Music Show wins Rockfel

MUSIC SHOW got her career back on track after a lacklustre effort in last month's Firth Of Clyde Stakes and put herself into contention for next year's Classics by grinding out victory in this afternoon's Group 2 Rockfel Stakes at Newmarket.

By outgunning runner-up Atasari, a Jim Bolger-trained daughter of first-season sire Whipper, and hot favourite Tabassum, a daughter of Nayef, Music Show also provided a notable strike for Goresbridge Horse Sales.

The Mick Channon-trained Noverre half-sister to Listed-placed Fantasia Girl was purchased by agent Gill Richardson at the fourth renewalof the Goresbridge breeze-up sale in May for €16,000. Notable past graduates of the auction include smart sprinter Hitchens and Italian Group 3 scorer Shot Bless.

Music Show also graced the sale ring at Tattersalls Ireland as a yearling, when she was bought in by her vendor for €4,000.

She is not the first daughter of Noverre purchased relatively inexpensively by Richardson who has entered training with Channon and carried owner Jaber Abdullah's colours with distinction at two.

2007 Albany Stakes heroine Nijoom Dubai (a 19,000gns Tattersalls October Book 2 buy) and the following year's Albany Stakes third Danidh Dubai (a €28,000 Tattersalls Ireland September purchase) also represented the same combination of sire, buyer, trainer and owner.

Noverre, who sired this season's Prix du Jockey-Club hero Le Havre, was sold by Darley to stand at Sohna Stud in India last year.

Music Show attracted quotes of between 16-1 and 33-1 for the 1,000 Guineas after the Rockfel Stakes.
