Notnowcato's first foal on the ground

CRYSTAL CAVERN, a winning half-sister to Poule d'Essai des Pouliches heroine Rose Gypsy, gave birth to the first foal by triple Group 1 winner Notnowcato today.

The foal, a chestnut colt, was born at Renee Robeson's Southcourt Stud. His dam has produced five winners to date, including Listed winner Crystal Star, herself dam of last year's Group 2 winner Crystal Capella.

Robeson described him as "a big strong colt – I'm delighted."

A son of Inchinor and out of Listed winner Rambling Rose, Notnowcato progressed from handicapper to one of the leading runners over 1m2f in the 2006 and 2007 seasons.

His seven career victories included a short-head defeat of Maraahel in the International Stakes, a head defeat of Dylan Thomas in the Tattersalls Gold Cup, and a famous 1½l defeat of Authorized and George Washington in the Eclipse.

He was retired to Stanley House Stud in Newmarket at a fee of €8,000 last year. His fee has been reduced by a quarter, to €6,000, for this year's breeding season.
