Notable Japanese first for Sheikh Mohammed
SHEIKH Mohammed won his first stakes race as an owner in Japan when the Street Sense colt Fleet Street took the Listed Hyacinth Stakes in Tokyo on Saturday.
Fleet Street remained unbeaten when he defeated the Bernardini colt Genten by half a length to make it three wins from as many starts.
Bred by Darley Japan K.K., Fleet Street is the first foal out of the winning Singspiel mare Jenny Lind, a full-sister to Group winner Songlark and a daughter of the champion juvenile Negligent, who was third in the 1000 Guineas as a three-year-old.
Jenny Lind also has a yearling colt by Storming Home, is in foal to Australian based Commands and is due to visit Admire Moon this season.
Street Sense, by Street Cry, is the only horse to have won the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile and Grade 1 Kentucky Derby. He stands at Darley at Jonabell in Kentucky for $40,000
His nineteen winners to date include Grade 3 winner Motor City, Grade 1-placed Miss Netta andrepeat winner Sensible Lady.
