Notable first for Soldier Hollow at Dundalk

MULTIPLE Group 1 winner Soldier Hollowwas represented by his first winner in Britain or Ireland when Destiny's Child got up in the opening mile fillies' maiden at Dundalk on Friday.

Her narrow victory came at the expense of Merkel, who was bidding to provide her young sire Manduro with a tenth winner.

Bred by Car Colston Stud near Nottingham, Soldier Hollow developed into a top middle-distance performer for Peter Schiergen. The son of In The Wings won 12 of 31 starts including two renewals of the Group 1 Premio Roma and a pair of 1m2f Group 1 events at Munich.

He enjoyed a successful season in 2011 with his first runners; Destiny's Child is his eighth winner and joins a list which includes Group 3 scorer Pastorius and the stakes-placed pair Dessau and Laeyos.

Soldier Hollow stands at Gestut Auenquelle in Germany for €6,000.

It was third time lucky for the Timothy Doyle-trained Destiny's Child, who was bred in Germany by Philippe Baron von Kap-Herr out of his 2006 Group 3 Go and Go Round Tower Stakes third Dushinka. In turn, Dushinka - a daughter of Titus Livius - is the best foal out of minor winner Dusky Virgin, a Missed Flight half-sister to smart sprinter Evening Promise.
