Shamardal: has been represented by 12 individual winners to date

North American winner for freshman Shamardal

DARLEY freshman sire Shamardal was represented by his first winner in North America yesterday, when his daughter Velvet Moss finished with a flourish to score in a 6f maiden at Woodbine, Canada, by a head on her debut.

The Reade Baker-trained filly, who is campaigned by owner-breeder Frank Stronach, is the first foal produced by the seven-year-old Notebook mare Maysville.

She is the 12th individual winner for her sire, who had his first Group scorer at the weekend when his son Shakespearean made just about all the running to land the Solario Stakes at Sandown.
