Kingwood-bred filly is Arakan's second winner

SUPER STELLA made it two winners from four runners for first-season sire Arakan when landing the 6f maiden at Siracusa in Italy by nearly six lengths today.

The Massimo Sardelli-trained filly, who was bred by Kingwood Bloodstock, is the seventh foal out of the 14-year-old Night Shift mare Night Owl. Other winners produced by the dam include Distant Connection and Hamalka.

Super Stella was sold as a foal to Bozzi Bloodstock for 5,500gns at the 2007 Tattersalls December sale. Her owner, Antonino Bosco, also pays the bills for Colessano, who became the first winner for his sire Pearl Of Love at Florence just 20 minutes later.

A Group 3-winning son of Nureyev, Arakan stands at Ballyhane Stud for a fee of €3,000. His first book of mares numbered 142, and the other winner to have emerged from one of those matings is Shark Man, who scored at Wolverhampton last month.
