New yearling bonus winners at Newbury

OWNERS Jared Sullivan and Julie Wood became the latest recipients of a £10,000 Racing Post Yearling Bonus chequethanks to the victories of Memen and Strong Suit in each division of the 6f maiden at Newbury.

Memen, a son of Verglas, was the only one of 14 entrants in the first division with racecourse experience having run fourth on his debut at Newbury's last Flat meeting in April.

A 65,000gns yearling purchase by trainer Paul Cole at Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Sale, Memen is the second bonus winner for Cole's yard following last month's Yarmouth scorer Child Bride.

StrongSuit is the seventh bonus winner sent out by Richard Hannon and the second to be owned by Julie Wood following her impressive Windsor winner Zebedee.

Peter Doyle purchased Strong Suit, an American-bred son of Rahy, for £40,000 from Pier House Stud at the DBS St Leger Sales.

Meanwhile, at Capanelle racecourse in Italy, Alnilam became the latest Italian bonus winner when taking the 5f maiden. The son of Hennessy was sold to M. Envico at the DBS St Leger Sale for £11,000.
