THE new year opened in style for Danehill Dancer on Sunday when the Coolmore stalwart supplied the winner of the Blandford Lodge Railway Stakes at Ellerslie in New Zealand, Atomic Force.

The six-year-old Australian-bred gelding is one of 16 Group 1 winners by Danehill Dancer, himself the winner of the 1995 Phoenix Stakes and National Stakes. Five of those Group 1 winners were bred in the southern hemispere, among them Choisir and Private Steer.

The 19-year-old son of Danehill also continues fly high in the northern hemisphere; last year alone saw him sire the Epsom Oaks heroine Dancing Rain as well as Prix Ganay hero Planteur. He is also the sire of Thursday's Grade 1 Istabraq Hurdle heroine Unaccompanied.

Danehill Dancer stands at Coolmore for €60,000.

Bred on the same Danehill Dancer - Star Kingdom cross as triple Australian Group 1 winner Private Steer, Atomic Force is out of dual winner Show A Force, who ran third in the 1995 Group 1 Sires Produce Stakes at Randwick.

The daughter of Luskin Star is the dam of five winners in total andout of a half-sister to 1996-97 Australian champion two-year-old Encounter.
