New winner for Notnowcato lands bonus

CHIL The Kite upheld his family's Goodwood tradition when justifying favouritism in the mile juvenile maiden on Saturday to land his owners, Hazel Lawrence and Graham Doyle, a £10,000 Racing Post Yearling Bonus.

The colt is a half-brother to Chataway, who broke his maiden over 6f at Goodwood in 2006 before selling to Hong Kong, as well as the Group 1-placed Kings Falcon and smart Pastoral Player, who ran sixth in the 7f heritage handicap earlier on Saturday's Goodwood card. They were each bred by Whitsbury Manor and Pigeon House Stud out of Copy-Cat, an unplaced Lion Cavern half-sister to Averti.

Trainer Hughie Morrison paid 18,000gns for Chil The Kite out of the Whitsbury Manor Stud consignment at Book 2 of last year's Tattersalls October Sale.

Chil The Kite is the fourth winner for Stanley House Stud stallion Notnowcato. The Group 1-winning son of Inchinor has enjoyed a good run of late, also siring fellow winners Plym and Mr Maynard within the past ten days.
