Third International winner for Montjeu

JOSHUA TREE (5 h Montjeu - Madeira Mist by Grand Lodge)

Bred by Castlemartin Stud and Skymarc Farms in Ireland

THE late Montjeu continued to dominate the Canadian International on Sunday when his son Joshua Tree led every step of the way under Frankie Dettori to land the Grade 1 event for Marco Botti.

The five-year-old took the race in 2010 for Aidan O'Brien while Montjeu also provided the winner of last year's race when Sarah Lynx defeated the colts for Jonathan Hammond. Remarkably, he also provided the second home in 2009, Jukebox Jury.

Joshua Tree is one of 26 Group or Grade 1 winner by Montjeu, who died at Coolmore earlier this year at the age of 16. Although no stallion can rival Galileo's domination at the head of the current leading European sires' list, Montjeu remains in a creditable second thanks to a year which has included the 2,000 Guineas and Derby victories of Camelot and the Coronation Cup win of St Nicholas Abbey.

He was also recently represented in Australia by Green Moon, winner of the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes at Flemington.

Joshua Tree is one of two winners out of Madeira Mist, who also enjoyed her finest moment at Woodbine when successful in the Grade 3 Dance Smartly Handicap in 2003. The daughter of Grand Lodge is a half-sister to Irish Listed winner Misty Heights and a granddaughter of the 1988 Coronation Stakes heroine Magic Of Life. It is the further family of this season's Tercentenary Stakes winner Energizer and Italian Group 3 heroine Nova Hawk

Madeira Mist has a yearling colt by Invincible Spirit, who was sold for 320,000gns to the Japanese-based JS Company at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Sale, and a 2012 brother to Joshua Tree.
