BEST DEAL (c Deep Impact - Commercante by Marchand De Sable)

Bred by Shadai Farm in Japan

A WEEK after siring Group 3 winner Gentildonna, Deep Impact was on the mark again, this time as the sire of Keisei Hai Stakes hero Best Deal.

And the son of Sunday Silence narrowly failed to pull off an across-the-card Group double when his son Danon Ballade ran second to To The Glory (by King Kamehameha) in the Group 2 Nikkei Shinshun Hai at Kyoto.

Best Deal is the 11th Group winner sired by Deep Impact, who stands for 10,000,000yen (£82,410/€96,158) at theShadai Stallion Station in Japan. An outstanding performer in his native Japan, Deep Impact has made a quick start at stud, siring the Group 1 winners Marcellina and Real Impact in his first crop and the top-class two-year-old filly Joie De Vivre - a three-parts sister to Buena Vista - in his second.

It was announced this week that Sarafina is set to be one of the highlights of his book this year following her purchase by Teruya Yoshida.

As with Gentildonna, who isout of the 2005 Cheveley Park Stakes winner Donna Blini, Best Deal is out an accomplished European mare; he is the third foal out of Commercante, who won the 2003 Group 3 Prix de Pysche in her native France and the Grade 1 E P Taylor Stakes a year later.

Commercante, who is also the dam of minor Japanese winner I Am No Kokoro (by Fuji Kiseki), is a sister to talented French jumper Deflation.
