MY MISS AURELIA (f Smart Strike - My Miss Storm Cat by Sea Of Secrets)

Bred by Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings in Kentucky

MY MISS AURELIA, last season's American champion two-year-old filly and the leading performer by Smart Strike this year, maintained her unbeaten record in a thrilling Cotillion Stakes on Saturday when denying Questing by a head.

The pair took control at the head of the stretch and drew clear of the field in a protracted duel, with My Miss Aurelia finally gaining the upper hand in the dying stages of the race. Dixie Strike was six lengths further away in third.

My Miss Aurelia is one of ten Grade 1 winners by Lane's End Farm veteran Smart Strike, a Grade 1-winning son of Mr Prospector who stood the past season for $85,000. Others include American Horse of the Year Curlin and dual champion Lookin At Lucky.

Bred by her co-owner Barbara Banke of Stonestreet Stables, My Miss Aurelia is a half-sister t0 the Listed-placed Albergatti (by Unbridled's Song) and out of the Listed-winning sprinter My Miss Storm Cat. In turn, she is a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Soul Warrior.

My Miss Storm Cat's yearling colt by Distorted Humor was recently sold to Shadwell Estate Co., Ltd for $850,000 at the Keeneland September Sale.
