New bonus winners
for Fahey and Hannon

WEDNESDAY'S action up and down the country resulted in a bonus payout of £20,000 within the space of just ten minutes.

First up was Pen Bal Crag, a colt belonging to Havelock Racing and the R J Partnership who became yet another juvenile winner of the season for Exceed And Excel when successful in the 5f maiden at Carlisle.

The Richard Fahey-trained colt was sold by his breeder, Hascombe and Valiant Studs, to George Robert Hunnam at Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Sale for 16,000gns - a relatively inexpensive sum given that he is out of Rosse, a winning half-sister to Coronation Stakes heroine Rebecca Sharp.

More expensive was the second bonus winner of the afternoon, Pink Sapphire, who justified her home reputation by registering an easy success in the 6f maiden at Salisbury. Trained by Richard Hannon on behalf of the Coolmore triumvirate of Michael Tabor, Derrick Smith and John Magnier, Pink Sapphire was sold to Peter Doyle for €110,000 at last year's Goffs Orby Sale.

The daughter of Danehill Dancer was bred in Ireland by Elaine Flyyn out of In Safe Hands, a Listed-placed half-sister toFlying Childers Stakes winner Cayman Kai.
