New appointment

INGLIS chairman John Coates has announced the appointment of Ian Cornell to the Inglis Board as a non-executive director.

"We are delighted to have secured the services of Ian Cornell, a very experienced businessman and retailer with a great passion for thoroughbred breeding and racing," Coates said.

"Ian will be familiar to many racegoers and will be a great asset to Inglis."

Cornell is currently the director of Human Resources and Retailer Relations at Westfield Limited, having held this position for five years.

Prior to this, he was their director of Management and Marketing after joining the company in 2002.

Cornell spent 23 years with Woolworths Ltd, in various senior management positions, across several divisions, including Buying, Merchandising, Supply Chain and Operations.

His final role with Woolworths was Chief General Manager of Supermarkets. He is also a former CEO and chairman of Franklins Limited, and has served on the Board of Dairy Farm Management Services Limited.

Cornell said he is looking forward to joining the board of Inglis at such an important time in their industry and with so many significant business initiatives underway.

Cornell is a Fellow of both the Australian Institute of Management and the Australian Human Resources Institute, having attended both the Harvard Advanced Management Program and the Michigan Human Resource Program.
