Neil Walsh given Tatts Ireland promotion

NEIL WALSH has been appointed head of bloodstock sales at Tattersalls Ireland, while longstanding directors Michael Hillman and Martin Mitchell will retire from the company's board at the end of the year.

Walsh's new role will see him head the Tattersalls Ireland team that organises sales, client liaison and sales-day matters.

General manager Roger Casey said: "Neil's lifelong interest in the bloodstock industry, combined with the great experience he acquired during his time at Horse Racing Ireland and The Turf Club, give him exactly the right qualifications to be head of bloodstock sales.

"He has been with the company since 2008 and will, I know, continue to provide our clients with the expert and approachable service for which Tattersalls Ireland is renowned."

Hillman and Mitchell have spent more than three decades with Tattersalls, with Hillman instrumental in overseeing the establishment of the company in the 1970s.

Casey said: "I would like to pay tribute to our retiring directors Michael and Martin. Michael has been an invaluable member of the Tattersalls Ireland team since the foundation of Ballsbridge Sales in 1975 and Martin has been a valued member of the board for over 20 years.

"They have both made significant contributions to Tattersalls Ireland and the wider bloodstock industry and we wish them well for the future"

Walsh said: "I am delighted and honoured to have been given the position as head of bloodstock sales at Tattersalls Ireland. I am looking forward to developing and growing our sales in accordance with the values that George Mernagh has instilled in the bloodstock team and myself."
