Native Ruler retired to stand at Louella Stud

GROUP 2-placed Native Ruler has been acquired to stand at Louella Stud in Leicestershire from next year.

The son of Cape Cross will stand alongside fellow thoroughbred stallions Denounce, Nomadic Way, Primitive Academy, Primitive Proposal and Rainbow High at a fee of £800.

Native Ruler was trained by Sir Henry Cecil for his owner-breeder Lordship Stud to win a 1m2f maiden at three.

Although that was Native Ruler's sole career victory, this year he went agonisingly close towinning the Group 2 Jockey Club Stakes on his five-year-old debut after a long lay-off, finishing second to Dandino by just a head.

Native Ruler then finished a close fourth to subsequent Irish St Leger dead-heater Duncan in the Group2 Yorkshire Cup.

The horse is bred in the purple, as he shares his sire with superstars Ouija Board and Sea The Stars, and is out of Oaks heroine Love Divine, making him a half-brother to St Leger winner Sixties Icon.
