Native Khan to stand at owner's stud in Turkey
DUAL Group 3 winner Native Khan is being advertised as beginning his stallion career at his owner Vefa Ibrahim Araci’s Vefa Harasi in Turkey next year.
The four-year-old son of Azamour retires with a record of three wins from nine starts, with his finest moments being victories in the Solario Stakes and Craven Stakes.
The effort that earned him his best Racing Post Rating, however, was getting to within seven lengths of Frankel when third in last year’s 2,000 Guineas, pulling 11 lengths clear of the fourth.
This year Native Khan was transferred from Ed Dunlop’s stables to be trained by John Oxx, for whom he finished third in two Group 3 races – the International Stakes and the Meld Stakes.
Bred in France by Gilles and Aliette Forien, Native Khan is out of the winning Kendor mare Viva Maria, a half-sister to stakes winners Verba, Welcome Millenium and Ximb.
Araci was among the high-rollers at the Tattersalls December Breeding Stock Sale last week, paying 525,000gns through his racing manager Rob Speers for the Sadler’s Wells mare Unity, who is in foal to Sea The Stars.
