Star mare Magnificient Style to Fastnet Rock
MAGNIFICIENT STYLE, the dam of last season’s King George winner Nathaniel, will be covered by Fastnet Rock at Coolmore in the coming months.
The 19-year-old Silver Hawk mare has a glittering stud record, with seven black-type winners – Changing Skies, Echoes In Eternity, Percussionist, Petara Bay, Playful Act, Stylelistick and Nathaniel.
Magnificient Style, who was purchased privately from the Sangster family by Nathaniel’s owner-breeder Lady Rothschild, has most often been covered by sires
with a stamina influence.
However, last year the mare was covered by Oasis Dream and it appears connections are looking to inject a little speed into her
Lady Rothschild’s racing manager James Wigan said: "I like what Fastnet Rock has done in Australia and he’ll suit her physically. He’s a fine, big, strong horse and we thought it would be an interesting mating for her."
Fastnet Rock, who shuttles between Coolmore’s bases in County Tipperary and Australia, hit the headlines at this month’s Magic Millions Sale with a A$255,370 average highlighted by the top lot, a colt bought by James Bester and Demi O’Byrnefor A$960,000.
A ten-year-old son of Danehill, Fastnet Rock has sired nine Group 1 winners in the southern hemisphere including the exciting Classic-winning filly Atlantic Jewel.
Last season’s Irish 1,000Guineas heroine Misty For Me was also recently announced as one of Fastnet Rock’s mates this year.
