Nahrain beats Announce to win the Prix de l'Opera

One-two for Lanwades stalwart Selkirk in Opera

LANWADES Stud stalwart Selkirk sired the first and second in Sunday's Group 1 Qatar Prix de l’Opera.

Nahrain was winning her first race at the highest level and won by the shortest of short heads to denyAnnounce, already a Group 1 winner this season.

Selkirk is responsible for siring the winners of eight stakes races this season and has now sired 14 individual Group 1 winners worldwide.

Nahrain was bred by Darley and is out of the Generous mare Bahr, who won the Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Nahrain is a half-sister to five other winners, most notably the dual Listed winning miler Baharah.
