COUNTY Kilkenny auctioneers Goresbridge Horse Sales has catalogued 136 lots for its breeze-up sale on May 21.

Nell Gwyn Stakes heroine and leading 1,000 Guineas hope Music Show was purchased at this sale last year for €16,000.

This year's catalogue is 28 per cent larger than last year, when 106 lots were catalogued. Ninety-four of those made it to the sale, with 76 selling for a clearance rate of 81 per cent, turnover of €725,900 and an average price of €9,551.

Among the standout pedigrees in the catalogue are a Captain Rio half-brother to last month's Leopardstown 1,000 Guineas Trial Stakes winner Lady Springbank; a Bahamian Bounty half-sister to Muhannak; and an Iceman colt out of high-class sprinter Danehurst.

Also, an Iffraaj half-brother to Hurricane Alan; an Elusive City colt out of Prix de Diane third Premier Amour (also grand-dam of Pomellato); and a Danehill Dancer half-brother to Barbajuan.

A Bahamian Bounty half-brother to Honours List, a FFr3million yearling who finished runner-up in the Group 1 Prix de la Salamandre, is also catalogued.

Goresbridge managing director Martin Donohoe said: "I'm very happy with the catalogue – it's much improved this year in terms of quantity and quality.

"We didn't design the catalogue to be muchbigger than last year, but we received around 270 entrants, more than double the spaces we had available.

"The sale has been getting better year after year and people seem to be taking that on board."
