Murphy pays £240,000 for winning Irish pointer

Five-year-old Italian Master, an impressive point-to-point winner for owner Terry Ryan at Dromahane last month, lit up the early trading at Brightwells'  April Sale at Cheltenham when selling for £240,000.

Warwickshire-based agent Aiden Murphy put in the successful bid for the Milan gelding, who had scoredat Dromahane under J D Moore on March 5.

Shortly beforehand, Grand National-winning trainer Donald McCain,  accompanied by Ballabriggs' jockey Jason Maguire,  made his mark when paying £160,000 for another once-raced point-to-pointer.

Dannanceys Hill, who was offered from Warren Ewing's Bernice Stables, came under the hammer 11 days after running away with a four-year-old maiden at Kirkistown by 10 lengths.
