Mount Coote-bred wins Breeders' Cup Marathon

MUHANNAK got the evening off to a flying start for the European contingent, and in particular trainer Ralph Beckett, when scoring in the opening Breeders' Cup Marathon.

Bred by Mount Coote Stud, the four-year-old gelding fetched €95,000 when bought by McKeever St Lawrence as a yearling at Goffs in 2005 and then 75,000gns at the Tattersalls Horses In Training Sale in 2007, purchased then by David Easterby. He holds an entry in the 2008 Horses in Training Sale.

By Juddmonte's deceased US-based stallion Chester House, he is a half-brother to US stakes sprinter Gold Taker and out of the Forzando mare, Opera.
