Moyglare's Princess scoreson seasonal debut

PRINCESS Highway justified 2/1 favouritism to get off the mark at the second time of asking at Leopardstown on Wednesday.

In the process, Dermot Weld's three-year-old denied some regally-bred fillies, among them Betterbetterbetter, a Galileo three-parts sister to Group 1 winners Quarter Moon and Yesterday who ran second for Aidan O'Brien, and Dane Street, a Street Cry half-sister to high-class juvenile Intense Focus who ran third for Jessica Harrington.

Bred by Moyglare Stud Farm, Princess Highway is the third winner out of Irresistible Jewel, whom Weld saddled to win the 2002 Ribblesdale Stakes. The daughter of Danehill has been quick to make her mark as a broodmare, producing Group 3 winner and Irish 1,000 Guineas runner-up Mad About You (by Indian Ridge) in her first year at stud.

Irresistible Jewel, who is ahalf-sister to Listed winner Diamond Trim (the dam of Irish St Leger second Profound Beauty), has a two-year-old filly by Henrythenavigator named Midnight Thoughts.
