Flat and NH pedigrees successful at Limerick

THE two races for mares and fillies run at Limerick on Sunday were won by horses hailing from very different pedigreebackgrounds.

The Grade 3 EBF Dawn Run Mares Novices' Chase was won by Moskova, a daughter of  Montjeu and out of Russian Rebel, a Machiavellian mare owned by Sheikh Mohammed, whereas Oligarch Society, winner of the Dawn Omega Milk EBF Mares' Novices' Hurdle, is by Moscow Society and out of the Lancastrian mare Glen Empress.

Now a three-time winner, Oligarch Society is a half-sister to Shirley Casper, a daughter of Presenting who finished third in the Punchestown Champion Bumper and was a Grade 3 winner over hurdles.

Moskova's dam wasunraced but her granddam Russian Royal won the Group 3 Besswing Stakes and her second dam Princess Karenda was a dual Grade 1 winner in the US taking the Hollywood Oaks and the Santa Margarita Invitational Handicap.
